Kids are all about their own favorite music!
Week 7 Task:
For this week’s assignment, students are to decide between one of the following choices:
Find their favorite song(s) and create a playlist on a musical device of their choosing. Then, they should take some time to listen and sing along with one song so that the can learn it very well. The end goal? A Musical Talent Show that could be a vocal performance or a dance performance. If students want to learn to sing the song…THEY CAN! If they want to choreograph a dance routine for the song… THEY CAN! If they want to do both…THEY CAN!
OR...
If you play an instrument of any variety, you could put your skills to work performing on that! You could learn a new song, brush up on an old song, or perform a favorite piece of yours!
THEN!
When the family is together, have the student(s) put on a performance of them performing their song(s)! (Brownie points for costumes for their performance!!)
______________________________________________________________________________________________
After the performance, a musical discussion could take place using the following questions:
1. Why did you choose that song/piece?
2. What was the hardest thing about learning that song/piece?
3. What was the easiest part about learning that song/piece?
4. What was the tempo or speed of the song/piece? Fast (allegro), Medium (moderato) or Slow (adagio)
5. If you had to perform this song for a larger audience, what would you do differently?
6. Feel free to email any performance to Ms. Kjellander at [email protected] as I would love to see what my students' imaginative minds were able to create!
